Web Awareness is a program developed by the Media Awareness Network to highlight the new challenges and girl shocked by what she sees on the computerissues that arise as children and young people go on the Internet.

The Alberta Library licenses the Web Awareness Program from the Media Awareness Network (Mnet) to provide communities with practical information and hands-on activities to help adults give kids the "cyber smarts" they need to make wise and safe online decisions, including:

  • How to determine a reliable source on the web
  • How to recognize online marketing and privacy issues related to it
  • How to deal with sites they stumble upon that may be unpleasant or threatening
  • How to deal with cyber bullying and cyber threats
