NEXT: A Library Futures Symposium
On October 21 — 22, 2010, over 250 members of Alberta's library community came together to help shape the future at NEXT: A Library Futures Symposium.
Participants included a diverse group of library community members, from students and recent graduates to seasoned administrators, trustees, government representatives and vendors.
The symposium was an opportunity for participants to think about the cultural, demographic, social and economic shifts that are likely to affect libraries in the coming years — and to explore new possibilities and new perspectives.
Outcomes for the symposium included contributing to the vision and strategic planning process of libraries and sparking innovation, learning and creativity.
The symposium was also designed to build connections and build community. As the library community charts a course in an increasingly information-based society, sharing insights and ideas becomes increasingly important.
We've compiled all the results of the symposium under the Symposium Proceedings tab (above left).
Use the insights and ideas from the symposium as part of your own strategic planning processes. Share insights and ideas from the symposium with others in your community and create opportunities for others to come together in conversation about the future.
It's our hope that the symposium is not just an end in itself, but that it is a part of a broader conversation about the future.
